The top and bottom of this piece are made with spalted maple. Spalting is a natural process that occurs after a tree dies. Leaving behind these beautiful dark streaks of figure known as “zone lines”. To compliment these zone lines I used black walnut for the walls of the piece. Finger pulls are cut into both side of the box making it easy to pull off the drop on lid. This piece is perfect for storing sentimental jewelry or personal treasures.
